With last year's release of Empyrean (Nuclear Blast Records), Fallujah delivered another contemporary gem in the stacked tech-death arena, one that maximized every inch of space available within the album's composition to great success. Beyond that, it expanded upon the work of acclaimed artist Peter Mohrbacher, shifting the narrative for the cover painting's initial intention, which we explored at great lengths with guitarist Scott Carstairs late last year in a Behind the Cover feature. Its splendor is as strong in the live setting as it is on its studio recording, as confirmed by the band's explosive showing earlier this month at Goldfield.
The band is currently on the road with Enterprise Earth and The Zenith Passage as part of The Death Empyrean Tour, rounding out a trifecta of talented performers.
Exquisite riffs followed one another as Carstairs and Sam Mooradian bounced off one another's energy alongside Kilian Duarte on the bass, each of which made excelled in showmanship throughout the Goldfield stage. New gems Radiant Ascension and Mindless Omnipotent Master spearheaded a great set characterized for its talent and joyous aggression displayed by frontman Kyle Schaefer.
