Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA on September 4, 2024:

Thirty Seconds To Mars' first tour in five years brought legacy in the form of AFI on the road for a driving force of punk bravado and versatile instrumentation. The night was an eclectic one, bringing Davey Havok and co. alongside Poppy, KennyHoopLa, and Thirty Seconds To Mars, AFI of which stood tall amongst the tour closer at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in the state's Bay Area.

As commanding and vibrant in his delivery as always, Havok soared high from the get go and made great use of every inch afforded to him on that Shoreline Amphitheatre stage. Fan-favorite Girls Not Grey kicked things off and the night proceeded into a stellar showcase of musicianship and era-defining showmanship.

Love Like Winter, End Transmission, and 17 Crimes among others reverberated throughout, met by the enthusiasm of the crowd. With many knowing the tracks word for word, the band's strength is evident and reflective of their capabilities decades past their inception.

Jade Puget's lush riffs were felt greatly, more so on standouts from DECEMBERUNDERGROUND (2006) and Sing The Sorrow (2003), and of course, the memorable The Days Of The Phoenix. Strobe lights shined down of the four-piece, each excelling in their own with a strong physicality to their playstyle. Their passion was evident in their facial expressions and gestures, reflective of the discography that they breathed new life into on stage. The rollercoaster of energy that was AFI set the bar high with Miss Murder putting a rocking conclusion to the show, allowing one breathing room once the headliner changeover began. It was as a grand as a headlining performance, as momentous as one could expect from a discography this celebrated. Lucky those who were in attendance, ourselves included.

Check out photos of the grand performance below and relive the special night.
